The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is for those adults who are seeking to become a member of the Catholic Church, for those who have already been validly baptized in another Christian denomination or those baptized Catholics that have not been confirmed and need further instruction in the Catholic faith.

Catechumens (those unbaptized and uncatechized)
Those interested in becoming Catholic are instructed in the faith that leads to the receiving of the full sacraments of the church. Catechumens will be expected to attend regular classes and masses, receive the rites of initiation, and after reception into the church, have a period of further religious education.

Candidates (baptized in another Christian denomination)
Those brothers and sisters that have been baptized in the Christian faith will receive instructions that will lead to their confirmation and first communion in the Catholic Church.

Adults both young and older are offered instruction in the RCIA program (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults). Classes for RCIA begin in mid-October and end just after Pentecost. RCIA classes for adults in English are held at St. Bartholomew Rectory and in Spanish at Freedom Academy under the direction of Mr. Jesus Tapia.
